This is the second in a series of three courses aimed at developing leadership skills in Primary, Infant and First Schools. This is a stand-alone course but the subsequent course will deal with Carrying out Work Scrutiny Effectively.

Melanie has taught for a number of years in a variety of Gateshead primary schools and has spent the last 8 years working as Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher of an outstanding primary school. In September 2013 she joined the educationGateshead team and now works as a Link Inspector for primary schools with a focus on school improvement and training. She is an assessor for the Basic Skills Quality Mark and is a Key Stage 2 SATs writing moderator. Her main areas of expertise are in teaching and learning, assessment,curriculum, leadership and management. Together with the educationGateshead team she is supporting NQTs, Headteachers in their first year of headship, middle leaders and curriculum leaders as they plan to implement the new Primary Curriculum.
