With the introduction of the Early Years Pupil Premium (an extra £300 for disadvantaged 3- and 4-year-olds), schools need to be able to justify the choices they have made as to how they have spent the EYPP money. The focus needs to be on ‘closing the gap’ and for this cohort of children, to be making more rapid progress if there is an identified risk of delay or delay in their development. The itkit is a practical, easy-to-implement programme that will support practitioners to meet the needs of those children who are not meeting age-related expectations in their communication and language, physical or personal, social and emotional development. The purpose of the programme is to improve children’s development across these three prime areas which are the foundations to learning.
This course will support school improvement in narrowing the gap for identified children in the EYFS. Throughout the day, delegates will gain an understanding of how to identify strengths and areas for development for children who are below age-related expectations in the prime areas of learning.
With the right early intervention, children make better progress. The longer-term impacts are minimised and many children can even catch up.
